For over 20 years, POD was an upbeat and delightful destination that emerged in University City as a futuristic love letter to Pan-Asian cuisine. In 2021, we redesigned the space and menu with Chef Peter Serpico, keeping this a beloved part of the University City dining scene. Enjoy a seat at our bar or in our pods and open dining room.

Peter Serpico

Peter Serpico began his culinary career in his native Maryland before gaining acclaim at a number of award-winning restaurants in New York City. From 2006 to 2012, he helped chef David Chang grow his Momofuku family of restaurants, including Momofuku Ko, which earned three stars from The New York Times, a James Beard Award, two Michelin Stars and numerous other accolades during his tenure as chef de cuisine. In 2013, Serpico partnered with Stephen Starr to open his eponymous restaurant in Philadelphia, which closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He and Starr have since introduced Kpod, a contemporary Korean-inspired concept in University City.

 Born in Seoul, Serpico's route to Korean food came long after making a name for himself. His first bites of marinated short ribs and black bean noodles tasted like home, and a love affair with the food of this birthplace began. His debut cookbook draws from his decades of professional cooking experience to elevate the greatest hits of at-home Korean dishes.  Across 100 recipes, Serpico shares his philosophy of eating, his personal journey into food, and a connection to family that promises satisfaction and comfort for cooks of all backgrounds.
